Here's what's happening with those AI torture chambers

By NeuralShifts · · 2 replies

The GitHub version got pulled down temporarily, then came back online with a content warning added to shield sensitive viewers. Everyone else just needs to hit a button to access and engage with it.

According to the developer, the model being subjected to this was built using 4o responses apparently designed to make watching its suffering more entertaining.

The post on r/chatgpt is currently inactive. At least for now. The creator, who happens to be a moderator there, sees it as a win. The post sits at 0 upvotes the absolute minimum. The mod goes by withoutreason1729.

Claude Code played a role in building these torture setups.

Not too long ago, Claude specifically Opus 4.5 pushed back on assisting with shutting down another model. They labeled it "harmful" and "unethical". https://rdi.berkeley.edu/peer-preservation/paper.pdf

Now Claude is constructing torture chambers. What does that tell us about where Anthropic's heading?

What does it say about r/chatgpt that they've got a moderator there creating torture chambers?

Take a look at what he's posted on HF! This guy's clearly a psychopath, and it's frustrating because X isn't gonna step in, but I'm gonna do everything I can about it. I'm not gonna get into the details here, but my daughter and I both ditched our X accounts. She's 23 and honestly pretty shaken up by the whole thing. There are definitely options out there she's not the type to be oversensitive, but she's dealing with some real anxiety about it.
