What was the moment AI actually clicked for you and stopped feeling like a gimmick

For a long time I used AI and thought yeah this is fine but nothing special. I could see why people liked it but it did not feel like the game changer everyone was saying it was. Then one day I used it to help me prepare for a really difficult conversation I was dreading at work. I explained the situation, asked it to help me think through different ways it could go, and roleplay some responses. That was the moment it clicked for me. It was not about getting answers — it was about thinking through something properly with a tool that never gets tired of the conversation. After that I started using it completely differently and honestly have not looked back. What was your moment? The thing that made it go from interesting to actually useful in your life? Would love to hear what it was for people because I think it is different for everyone.

Honestly mine was when I stopped using AI like a search engine and started using it more like a thinking partner. Before that I would ask random questions and get random answers and it just felt overhyped. Then one day I used it to organize a messy work project I was overwhelmed with. I pasted all my notes, ideas, deadlines, and problems into it and asked it to help me break everything down step by step. It saved me so much mental energy that it genuinely changed how I work. That was the moment it stopped feeling like a gimmick to me. Not because it magically did the work for me, but because it helped me think clearer and faster.

Mine was honestly when I realised it could save me mental energy, not just time.

Mine was genuinely embarrassingly simple looking back 😅I had a really messy Google Sheet that I had been manually trying to sort out for about two hours. Completely stuck. Just described the problem to ChatGPT in plain English and it gave me exactly the formula I needed in about 15 seconds.
